Passage: Hebrews 5:11-14
Hopeful for Salvation
Thankfully verses 9-12 can be said of most believers. The writer is sure of better things for his reader than falling away from faith; "things that belong to salvation. He is sure that the gospel has taken root and that they will grow deeper in their knowledge of God, and he has seen good fruit of faith in them.
The writer has seen and experienced their faith and love that they have shown toward the saints. One sure fruit of faith in Christ is a love for God that flows into a love for his people. Loving and serving the saints of God is a good indication that God has done a work in the hearts of the readers.
The writer is hopeful that their genuine faith and earnest service will translate to a true assurance of hope until the end. The earnestness will keep the people from be sluggish in faith and will help them imitate instead the faithful believer who persevered before them.
