Passage: Hebrews 9:25-28
Once and For All
The continual nature of the sacrificial system made it clear that those sacrifices were temporary fixes. They did not purify people, only temporary cleansed them. The system offered no lasting hope of a right relationship with God, and since it was “appointed for man to die once, and then judgement,” the sacrificial system offered nothing in terms of sure salvation.
The once and for all sacrifice of Jesus, was the solution that we all needed. A right relationship with God was purchased with the pure blood of Christ. Since his blood paid the price for our sins, we are offered an eternal hope of a life that will be spent in the presence of God.
Without a hope for forgiveness of sins, we should dread his return, but it is in this eternal hope that we await the return of our savior. When Jesus returns, it will not be to judge us for our sin; no our sin has already been judged, it will be to save those who have been waiting for Him.
